ABOUT THE POSITION.
As an Associate Environmental Consultant, you will lead the delivery of contaminated land projects while playing a key role in expanding the client base and securing new work. You will oversee project lifecycles, provide senior technical input, and act as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders. This role blends leadership, project delivery, and business development, making it ideal for a commercially minded consultant ready to step into a more strategic position.
DUTIES.
- Lead and manage contaminated land projects from initial investigation through to remediation and site closure
- Oversee site assessments (PSI, DSI), risk assessments, and development of conceptual site models
- Design and implement remediation strategies, including RAPs, validation, and regulatory sign-off
- Drive business development initiatives, including proposal preparation, client engagement, and securing repeat work
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, and key stakeholders
- Provide technical leadership and review of reports to ensure quality and consistency
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resourcing to achieve successful outcomes
- Mentor and develop junior consultants, fostering technical and professional growth
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory updates, and emerging technologies
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE.
- Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, or related discipline
- Extensive experience in contaminated land consulting within Australia
- Demonstrated success in business development, client relationship management, and winning work
- Strong knowledge of Australian contaminated land regulations and frameworks
- Proven ability to lead projects, manage teams, and deliver commercial outcomes
- Advanced technical capability in site assessment, remediation, and reporting
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commercially astute with a strategic mindset
