ABOUT THE COMPANY.


This Local Council based in the Sydney's Lower North Shore is looking for a Development Compliance Officer to add to the team. You will play a crucial role in protecting the safety of the community, by ensuring compliance with building and environmental regulations.


ABOUT THE POSITION.

This is a 6 month contract during which you will actively perform business functions related to investigating and taking appropriate enforcement actions concerning compliance matters. 

  
DUTIES.
  • Carry out and investigate complaints and inspections related to unauthorised land use, unsafe structures, unauthorised building work and overall non compliant with conditions of development consent
  • Oversee Council's mandatory Swimming Pool Inspection Program
  • Represent Council in court through preparation and providing evidence
  • Issue Penalty infringement Notices & Orders in accordance with relevant legislation, including Swimming Pool Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act & Protection of the Environment Act
  • Provide strong customer service towards customer needs
  
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE.
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Building Surveying or currently enrolled in relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of Assessment Act Regulations, Swimming Pool Act, Protection of the Environment Act and associated Regulations
  • Current and valid Driver’s License
  • Council experience preferred but not essential
  • E1 Accredited Swimming Pool Certifier highly desirable
