ABOUT THE POSITION.
Due to continued growth, an opportunity exists for a motivated Geotechnical Field Technician to join the Sydney-based team. This role involves conducting on-site investigations, collecting soil and rock samples, performing in-situ testing, and supporting the engineering team with high-quality field data. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, hands-on professional who enjoys fieldwork and takes pride in accurate and reliable testing.
DUTIES.
- Carry out field testing including DCP, Scala, nuclear density, and other in-situ geotechnical tests
- Coordinate and perform soil and rock sampling for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain accurate field logs, records, and reports
- Assist with borehole logging and supervision of drilling operations
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality procedures on-site
- Liaise with engineers, laboratory staff, and contractors as required
- Transport and maintain field testing equipment and vehicles
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE.
- Previous experience in a similar geotechnical field or construction testing role (1–3 years preferred)
- Understanding of Australian Standards for soil and material testing
- Current driver’s licence (manual preferred)
- White Card and current First Aid certification desirable
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate reporting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a field team
- Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work in variable conditions
