ABOUT THE POSITION

Join a team that’s shaping the parks and open spaces in your community! As a Project Officer - Open Space , you’ll manage the planning, design, and delivery of capital works projects in parks, sportsfields, reserves, gardens, and foreshore areas.
Reporting to the Coordinator Parks Projects, you’ll play a key role in creating sustainable, functional, and well-loved public spaces. From early planning through to project completion, you’ll be helping deliver spaces that support recreation, community connection, and the environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Deliver end-to-end parks projects - from scoping, costing, and approvals through to design, procurement, and construction
  • Work with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to get projects done on time and on budget
  • Engage with the community and stakeholders to ensure projects reflect local needs and values
  • Manage contracts, prepare reports, and keep accurate records
  • Ensure all works meet safety, accessibility, and environmental standards
  • Support landscape design and community garden projects
  • Occasionally step up and act in the Coordinator role when needed
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • A qualification (or equivalent experience) in capital works, landscape architecture, project management or related field
  • Experience delivering capital works projects, including design, budgeting, and contractor management
  • Knowledge of industry standards, procurement, and legislation
  • Strong communication skills – with the public, stakeholders, and your team
  • Good computer skills – including project management software and CAD
