ABOUT THE COMPANY.

Join a Local Government Council and be a part of a positive and collaborative team environment. Local Government offer flexible start and finish times, Work From Home days and 35 hours per week. You will be liaising with internal and external Stakeholders, undertaking flood studies and flood risk management plans in accordance to NSW Flood Policy.
  
ABOUT THE POSITION.

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and innovate in flood modelling and flood risk management within a dynamic and supportive Local Government team. As a Senior Flood Modelling Specialist , will play a key part in delivering impactful projects that enhance community resilience, working closely with diverse stakeholders. The position provides a blend of technical challenge, professional growth, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development and public safety.
  
DUTIES.
  • Lead hydrologic and hydraulic modelling (e.g., TUFLOW) for flood studies and capital works.
  • Provide expert advice on flood modelling methodologies and interpret results.
  • Support Floodplain Risk Management Studies and Plans, including scenario testing.
  • Prepare technical maps, figures, and documentation for stakeholders.
  • Review flood impact assessments for development applications and advise accordingly.
  • Mentor and train staff to build internal modelling capability.
  • Communicate technical findings to the community and stakeholders.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE.  
  • Proven experience in flood modelling (e.g., TUFLOW) and flood risk management
  • Strong knowledge of ARR2019 and NSW Flood Risk Management Manual
  • Ability to interpret and clearly communicate complex technical data
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and teamwork skills
  • Civil Engineering degree or similar and Class C Driver’s Licence
