ABOUT THE POSITION.

An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to play a key technical and leadership role within the business. You will take ownership of complex geotechnical projects, provide technical direction across multidisciplinary teams, and act as a trusted advisor to clients. This position combines hands-on technical delivery with mentoring, project governance, and contribution to business growth.


DUTIES.
  • Provide technical leadership and overall management of geotechnical projects from proposal through to delivery and close-out
  • Plan, direct, and review site investigations, ground characterisation, and laboratory testing programs
  • Lead the interpretation of geotechnical data and author high-quality factual and interpretive reports
  • Deliver and review geotechnical designs, including shallow and deep foundations, slope stability solutions, retaining structures, and earthworks in accordance with Australian Standards and industry best practice
  • Oversee and provide expert input during construction phases, including site inspections, earthworks verification, and contractor liaison
  • Mentor and technically guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing
  • Lead proposal preparation, fee estimation, and client presentations, while building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Ensure compliance with company quality systems, safety requirements, and regulatory frameworks

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering 
  • Extensive experience in geotechnical consulting, with demonstrated leadership of complex projects
  • Strong technical expertise in soil and rock mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, and earthworks design
  • Advanced proficiency with industry software such as PLAXIS, gINT, SLOPE/W, SLIDE, or similar
  • Proven capability in producing and reviewing high-level geotechnical reports and client proposals
  • Well-developed communication skills, with confidence engaging clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to programme and budget
