ABOUT THE POSITION. 

An opportunity exists for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to play a pivotal role in the delivery and leadership of geotechnical projects. You will be involved across all project phases, providing technical expertise, managing investigations and designs, liaising with clients, and mentoring junior engineers. This role is suited to an experienced professional seeking greater autonomy, influence, and long-term career development.


DUTIES.
  • Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including fieldwork, in-situ testing, and laboratory coordination
  • Interpret complex geotechnical data to assess ground conditions and develop practical engineering solutions
  • Deliver and review geotechnical designs for foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, and earthworks
  • Prepare and review detailed technical reports, specifications, and recommendations
  • Provide expert advice to clients and stakeholders, ensuring project requirements are met
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, industry best practices, and environmental regulations
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally within the Australian consulting environment
  • Proficiency with geotechnical analysis and design software such as gINT, PLAXIS, Rocscience, GeoStudio, Wallap, and OpenGround
  • Strong technical reporting, communication, and client-facing skills
  • Proven ability to manage complex technical challenges and deliver practical, cost-effective solutions
