ABOUT THE POSITION. 

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading investigations, undertaking advanced geotechnical analysis and design, and managing projects from inception through to construction support. You will work closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions while mentoring junior engineers within the business. This position offers a strong balance of technical work, project management, and client-facing responsibilities, making it ideal for an experienced engineer looking to further develop their leadership capabilities.


DUTIES. 
  • Lead and manage geotechnical investigations across a range of project sectors
  • Interpret field and laboratory testing data to assess ground conditions and project risks
  • Undertake geotechnical design for foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, slopes, and ground improvement solutions
  • Prepare and review high-quality technical reports, specifications, and design recommendations
  • Provide technical guidance during construction phases, including site inspections and problem-solving support
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and client deliverables
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to the growth and development of the team
  • Contribute to business development activities, proposals, and tender submissions

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE. 
  • Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering within an Australian consulting environment
  • Strong knowledge of Australian geotechnical standards, practices, and design methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience delivering geotechnical investigations and design for a range of development and infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency with industry software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio Suite (Slope/W, Seep/W), gINT, Slide, or similar
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously
  • Chartered status or progression towards Chartered accreditation will be highly regarded
