ABOUT THE POSITION. 

An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a high-performing Sydney-based team. This role will see you leading investigations, providing technical design solutions, managing project delivery, and developing strong client relationships. You will play a key role in delivering geotechnical services across a variety of projects while contributing to the growth and success of the business through your technical expertise and industry knowledge.


DUTIES. 
  • Lead and manage geotechnical site investigations, including planning, supervision, and interpretation of field and laboratory testing programs
  • Undertake detailed geotechnical assessments and design for foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, slope stability, and ground improvement works
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, recommendations, and client deliverables
  • Provide expert geotechnical advice throughout project planning, design, and construction phases
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, architects, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and graduates within the team
  • Assist with project management responsibilities, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation
  • Contribute to business development activities, proposal preparation, and client relationship management
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, emerging technologies, and best-practice engineering solutions

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally within the Australian consulting environment
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design, slope stability, earthworks, and ground engineering principles
  • Demonstrated experience delivering geotechnical projects from investigation through to construction support
  • Proficiency with industry software such as PLAXIS, gINT, GeoStudio, Slope/W, Slide, or similar platforms
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Standards and relevant geotechnical design guidelines
  • Excellent technical report writing, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within a fast-paced consulting environment
  • Chartered status or progression towards Chartership will be highly regarded
