A rare opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner to join a well-regarded Local Council on an initial 3-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Transport Planner or Traffic Engineer looking to contribute to meaningful community-focused projects within a supportive Council environment.
ABOUT THE POSITION.
Reporting to the Team Leader, you will assist with the assessment and delivery of transport planning matters, working closely with internal Council teams, external stakeholders, consultants, and community representatives.
The role will focus on reviewing transport-related development applications, providing strategic transport advice, and supporting a variety of traffic and active transport projects, including:
- Roundabouts and intersections
- Pedestrian crossings and raised crossings
- Cycleways and active transport initiatives
- Road and footpath improvements
- Traffic operations and other transport-related projects
DUTIES.
- Assess and provide recommendations on transport-related development applications
- Prepare technical advice, reports, and presentations for Council teams, senior staff, and stakeholders
- Liaise with internal departments, consultants, government agencies, and community representatives
- Provide strategic advice on transport initiatives, including active transport programs and trial projects
- Support traffic and transport operations matters as required
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE.
- Degree qualification in Transport Planning, Traffic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Strategic Planning, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in transport planning, traffic management, development assessment, or transport strategy delivery
- Previous experience working within Local Government
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within deadlines
