ABOUT THE POSITION.
As a Work Permits Officer, you will review and approve construction activities related to road reserve works and stormwater connections in line with the Road Act and Local Government Act, ensuring compliance with Council’s engineering standards, technical specifications, and policies.
DUTIES.
- Approve civil works within road reserves and footways
- Issue permits (e.g. Road Opening, Hoarding, Plant, VFCs, Stormwater)
- Conduct site inspections and prepare condition reports
- Ensure compliance with Council regulations and Traffic Control Plans
- Liaise with stakeholders including contractors and utility providers
- Support legal claims with inspection findings
- Design and assess vehicular crossings and footpath works
- Issue alignment levels and manage erosion control on-site
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Proven experience in concrete works (crossings, kerbs, footpaths)
- Knowledge of stormwater drainage, erosion control & traffic management
- Proficient in AutoCAD and basic surveying tools
- Strong communication skills and experience in permits & inspections
