ABOUT THE COMPANY.
Join a team of industry professionals within a Local Council in Western Sydney as a Principal Planner. This is an initial 12 month contract which has a strong likelihood of being extended. Play a pivotal role promoting development within the community and the professional development of the team.
ABOUT THE POSITION.
As a Principal Planner you report to the Team Leader and will be responsible for Coordinating Council reports to planning panels, manage the Pre-Development Application Process relating to regionally significant development proposals, assess and report on major and complex development applications and act as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court. You will also play a crucial role in managing and mentoring a small team of development planners and staff in assessing development applications and interpreting planning issues.
DUTIES.
- Coordinating Council reports to planning panels
- Manage the Council’s Pre-Development Application Process relating to regionally significant development proposals
- Assess and report on major and complex development applications and liaise with the public and developers
- Act as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court
- Managing and mentoring a small team of development planners and staff
- Providing written and verbal advice regarding land use, zoning, planning legislation, Council policies and procedures
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE.
- Degree qualifications in Town Planning or related
- Excellent leadership and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work in a team and autonomously
